Marko is a geopolitical expert and author of Geopolitical Alpha: An Investment Framework for Predicting the Future, a book that introduces his constraints-based framework to investors. He provides bespoke research and consulting services to clients and partners on geopolitics, macroeconomics, and markets.

His background includes BCA Research where he manages BCA Access and their GeoMacro Strategy, and previously founded their Geopolitical Strategy in 2012, the financial industry’s first dedicated political analysis investment strategy. The geopolitical service generates geopolitical alpha by identifying gaps between the market’s political expectations and the firm’s forecasts. At Clocktower Group, an alternative asset management firm in CA, is where he put his GeoMacro framework to the test of the markets, helping seed discretionary macro hedge funds and providing some of the world’s largest pools of capital and macro hedge funds with market insights.

Marko has lectured at Stanford University, The Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown, School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins, Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto, McGill University, and the University of British Columbia (UBC). He holds graduate degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and University of British Columbia.

Born in Belgrade, Serbia, he has lived in Iraq, Jordan, Switzerland, Canada, and the U.S. When he isn’t writing research, you can find him coaching his kids’ basketball games or playing with locals on the neighborhood court.
