MARC BRINKMEYER

Chairman, Idaho Forest Group

Marc Brinkmeyer is the Owner and Chairman of Idaho Forest Group (IFG), one of America’s largest lumber producers.  IFG owns five sawmills and a new sawmill in Mississippi, with capacity for over 1.5 billion board feet. Brinkmeyer is an accomplished business leader, a champion of education and innovation, and a longtime philanthropist.

Brinkmeyer, an Iowa farm boy, graduated from Buena Vista University with a bachelor’s degree in finance.  He began his career with Arthur Andersen and Company, before becoming CFO for the Brandis Families’ Brand-S Corporation, a private forest products company.

In 1981 Brinkmeyer purchased his first sawmill in Laclede, Idaho.  Over the last 40 years the company has expanded its holdings and is the largest producer in the Inter-Mountain West and is expanding in the US South.  All of the company’s operations are continuously upgraded with advanced technology.

Based in Coeur d’Alene, IFG grows, harvests, manufactures, and distributes lumber and other wood by-products to customers in the United States and abroad. The company emphasizes a talented workforce of more than 1,300 employees and 2,500 partner contractors. IFG’s mission is to “enhance the lives and livelihoods of our employees, customers, and partners and the communities in which we operate”.

Brinkmeyer has decades of involvement in industry organizations. He is a past chairman of the Softwood Lumber Board, past chairman of the American Wood Council and current Member of the Bi-National Softwood Lumber Council.  He is a member of the Board for the National Wild Turkey Federation and a member of the Boone and Crockett Club.

Brinkmeyer and his wife Vicki, support many organizations committed to education and conservation. They contribute generously to various university academic programs and initiatives.  Their community and cultural leadership includes sponsorship of the Festival at Sandpoint and the Idaho Humanities Council lecture series.
