Kevin Folta

Kevin M. Folta is a Professor of molecular biology and genomics. He also farms fruit, vegetables and eggs for local markets with his wife in rural Florida. Kevin has enjoyed an increasing role in advising strategic communication efforts for governments, corporations, and academic institutions around issues of technology in agriculture and medicine. He has hosted the weekly Talking Biotech Podcast since 2015. Dr. Folta has been persistently targeted for over a decade, and has suffered profound professional and personal consequences for advocating for agriculture and science literacy. Still, he feels contemporary issues in farm and food security are critical, so he continues to teach how to effectively engage controversies and critics. Continual innovation and production of superior communications products are the keys to successfully ensuring that new technologies reach those they are intended to serve.
