KANYON HUNTINGTON

Former National FFA Officer

Growing up on a sheep and cattle farm, Kanyon Huntington has had ties to agriculture his entire life. However, he shares that his advisor created a space for him by encouraging him to get involved in various contests. “He helped me believe in myself and step outside my comfort zone,” Kanyon shared.

During his time in FFA, Kanyon developed a small flock of sheep for breeding and market purposes through his sheep entrepreneurship supervised agricultural experience (SAE). He established a flock of 50 crossbred sheep, with an overall scope of 113 sheep. His main focus was breeding lambs with exceptional genetics for showing and the meat market.

Kanyon shared that one of his favorite FFA memories is from his freshman year when their chapter won state champions for the Iowa FFA State Soil Judging Contents. “It took a lot of hard work and was totally unexpected,” he said.

This year, Kanyon looks forward to traveling and meeting members where they are as he continues to learn about the organization. “I want to create a space for all members to feel valued by giving them room to bloom.”
